With the arrival of the cyclotron to iThemba LABS Cape Town, on Monday 28th March 2022, Phase 1 of the establishment of the South African Isotope Facility (SAIF) has kicked off. Construction to prepare the vaults and to set up the electrical and mechanical plants began in June 2021. The Cyclone 70-MeV cyclotron has been procured from IBA in Belgium.
