Subatomic Physics – Tape Station

Overview | K=600 Spectrometer | AFRODITE | ALBA | Electron Spectrometer | Fast Timing Array | Tape Station | Infrastructure | Beam Time Schedule | Staff |

A tape station is available for decay measurements on the A-Line, when the 1.5m scattering chamber is removed. The single-spool design has 50m of 12 mm wide mylar tape, capable of moving at a maximum speed of 1 ms-1, and transporting activity 2.5 m from the implantation point to a measuring station. The measuring station can be equipped with a Si(Li) detector for conversion electron detection, fast LaBr detectors, LEPS detectors and clover detectors. A plastic scintillator of about 30% efficiency is available β-particle detection and fast timing.
