During National Science Week, iThemba LABS seeks to promote the science linked to accelerator-based research for sustainable development. Each of the sessions will see one of the iThemba LABS researchers give a presentation on the use of accelerated particle beams in materials research. The session will be followed by a short tour of the materials research laboratory, concluding the day with a networking session at our visitors’ centre.
The science engagement team at iThemba LABS will also be hosting a hybrid programme at high schools and primary in the local community, servicing 2 schools per day, showcasing aspects of the NSW theme, current research projects and career opportunities at the facility, and running a virtual quiz.
