The electronics team form part of a multidisciplinary team at Ithemba LABS that provide the sub skill set for Electronics Engineering to the research community of iThemba LABS and its user base. This requires knowledge and interfacing to the to disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, IT, Scientific Research and SCM administration to provide a optimum product or support function.
The current team consist of a manager and 4 Engineers, an Electronics Technician and a Production Technician with skill in SCM and store management.
The team provide the following value stream to the research community. From the Concept to Integration and the final support of research infrastructure
To provide comprehensive support skills are distributed across several disciplines within the Electronic / Electrical engineering of the skill within the department focuses on:

- Microprocessor System Design
- Control System Design
- FPGA Tools and Design
- High Speed Data Acquisition
- SMD Soldering
- Procurement and Stock Control
- Advance fault-finding and repair to Electronics and Data Acquisition System
