This event happening over four days (18th – 21st of July) started this morning with “take a girl child to work” initiative, an endeavor to grow the number of females in the science research space. Linking iThemba LABS to one of the pillars of Mandela`s legacy, a passion for education, 18 girl learners from local high schools have been invited to the programme. Today`s morning activities included motivational presentations by staff members from the Directorate and the department of Subatomic physics. The trip is sponsored by the NSTF Brilliants Programme which recognizes students that have received top marks in mathematics and physical science in the National Senior Certificate Examinations.
