Nuclear Physics – Theoretical Physics

When we study the nucleus, theory and experiment go hand in hand. The theory interprets the measurements, while the experiment tests the theory and aids in its development. Thus theory and experiment, step by step, reveal the world inside the nucleus.

At iThemba LABS we are actively engaged in the use and development of a variety of nuclear models, including the state-of-art versions of the shell, rotational and cluster models. Of interest also are investigations of possible links between these models.
