Coordinated research project on Applications of Biological Dosimetry methods in Radiation Oncology

The IAEA selected the radiation biology laboratory at iThemba LABS to participate in a coordinated research project (CRP) on Applications of Biological Dosimetry Methods in Radiation Oncology. The CRP consists of 25 institutions from 23 IAEA Member States, who will set up a research biodosimetry network for clinical applications. The principle scientific investigator for this at of iThemba LABS is Charlot Vandevoorde and she attended the first Research Coordinators Meeting at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna (Austria). Charlot presented a research proposal on Radiobiological Challenges in Proton Therapy with Special Emphasis on Paediatric Patients and this was selected for funding.
